LAUNCHXL-CC1352P: Non functional after unboxing; missing components on pcb

Hi Andreas,

Not aware that we have any issues with any LaunchPads lots but I will double check.

I do not have an overview of the LOT numbers at the moment.

Which LaunchPad do you see this on LAUNCHXL-CC1352P1, LAUNCHXL-CC1352P-2 or LAUNCHXL-CC1352P-4 ?

All of the CC1352P LPs should have C461 & C471 mounted.

Hi Richard,

I haven't done a picture without modification, but this would show only two empty 0201 places.

I can only send you the pictures with modification, therefore two 0403 caps are soldered at the positions as good as possible because of the RF shield. Measurements show that the caps are electrically connected but the whole circuit don't show any program operation.The second picture was taken with microscope to shoe the details...

My questions are:

- What can be checked else? I didn't found any other missing components.

- Because missing components are a clear production issue, will TI send me a new board?

Which revision of the Launchpad do you have?

And which chip version does the board have? If you connect the Launchpad to smartRF studio, which version of CC1352P does Studio report you have?

The production site does not recognize the LOT nr that you stated: 3072018LK3. The production site has requested a picture of the LP showing the top and bottom side when not modified.

Did you test this? I suspect that you have a Launchpad with rev C of the CC1352P which is not supported (rev C is a pre production version)

Chip revision shown in smartRF studio is: C (1.1).

Marking on the chip is: 3rd line - TI X79J; 4th line - PD5C

It's over 2 years since we got rev E. Is this a new Launchpad and if yes, where did you purchase it? 

The board was ordered from Farnell, but for sure before Corona outbreak. Since then the project was on hold.

I would advice you to contact Farnell to request a new board. It could look like they haven't flushed their inventory when TI updated CC1352P to the production version. 

They will not exchange the board because of the soldering of the missing capacitors (and of course warranty time is over).

So how to proceed TI?
