CC2531: Z-Stack still maintained?

Part Number: CC2531
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: Z-STACK

Good evening

The TI site lists the CC2531 still as active...and looks it is the only device for ZigBee with built-in USB PHY.

Also Z-Stack is available..though release date was in 2018.

So is this device still save to use when USB is needed?
And why is there no Linux Z-Stack installer? Or can the Windows installer be used with wine and copy the sdk folder over the the Linux ti folder?

thanks in advance

richard

  • Hi richard,

The CC2531 is still active but Z-Stack 3.0.X is no longer updated or maintained.  I highly recommend considering only SimpleLink CC13XX / CC26XX solutions which will have software updates on a quarterly cadence and include updates to the Zigbee Specification as they are released by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA).

If you would still like to consider the CC2531 as an option, you can try installing Z-Stack 3.0.2 for Linux according to the method you've described but this has not been verified by TI.

    Regards,
    Ryan

  • Hello Ryan

Will try that on Friday...also getting more TI hardware by then ;-)

Are there any plans in the future for a cc13x2/26x2 device with built-in USB?

    cheers

  • Hello richard,

There are no plans for SimpleLink built-in USB support in the near future.
