CC2520: Part Number Clarifications / What do they mean?

Part Number: CC2520

Hello TI Friends & Family,

Interesting question regarding available cc2520 package/part numbers.

Per the below Table in the Package section of the DS, what are the different part numbers and what do they mean?

This is interesting – as it appears there is no other online collateral related other than the device datasheet.

Quickly, I can tell unequivocally that all four (4) part numbers are pin-compatible.  IN fact, there is only 1 package type offered for this cc2520 device…the “VQFN RHD 28” as defined in the Package section of the DS.

The “R” in the part number suffix (last character) means Reel, as in packaged on a Reel in 3000 pcs quantities.

The “T” in the part number suffix (last character) means Tape/Tray, as in packaged on a Tape/Tray in smaller 250 pcs quantities.

The “HPAxxxx” part appears to be a custom part number version of the same base cc2520 but would need to confirm.

The “G4” suffix also is unknown;  would need to confirm.

Any further input/clarification would be helpful!

TY,
CY

  • Chris,

As you can tell, the only orderable part numbers are the CC2520RHDR (reel) and CC2520RHDT (tray).

Starting about 15~20 years ago, the G4 suffix (and E4 depending on the part) was used to differentiate the parts that were "green" or "Lead Free". Over the years, all parts have become Lead Free and therefore the suffix was slowly being phased out.

I could not find information about the HPA00399RHDR - indeed it might be a custom P/N.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Rafael, thank you!  This is perfect.  Done deal.
