Here is preamble for ZigBee





Our PHY layer needs changing Preamble #1 and/or SFD bytes.



Is it possible to configure protocol that way in that module?



FYI We currently use very old CC family one one, where it is possible, but it slowly becomes expensive and obsolete.

Hi Mike,

The preamble and SFD are static for the IEEE 802.15.4 PHY and thus cannot be configured for Z-Stack projects.

For some reason it was decided ages ago to change something there and I am searching for replacement.

CC2430 allowed this, from manual:

Maybe you know which modern part can be used as replacement?

Four bytes is the length that complies with the IEEE 802.15.4 Specification upon which Zigbee protocol is founded, and TI's Z-Stack solutions are built for Zigbee compliancy. You can evaluate the effect of changing mac_spec.h constants in either Z-Stack 3.0.2 (CC253X devices) or SIMPLELINK-CC13XX-CC26XX-SDK, however this has not been tested internally. If you discover that this operation is blocked by the IEEE 208.15.4 MAC/PHY then you would have to use Proprietary RF mode to change the preamble length.
