CC2652P: how do a sleepy ZED and its parent (router or coordinator) exchange data in Z-Stack?

The way ZED sending data out to its parent seems quite straightforward to me, but how a sleepy ZED receives data is not so obvious. I assume it is something similar to how it is done in TI-15.4 stack, as depicted in the following diagram:

in ZED syscfg file I see two options: minimal poll period and poll period. If sleepy ZED polls its parent at a fixed interval, I assume only the polling period is needed. What is the purpose of minimal poll period?

The other question is: if their is a pending data on parent node, will ZED receive the first pending data upon poll or won't actually receive the data until next poll as what happens in TI-15.4 stack?
