Hello,

I heard from a few TI-ers that Zigbee 2006 support has been removed from the stack. I have a client who has an existing Zigbee 2006 implementation but would like to upgrade to the latest stack. I reviewed the release notes for each version from 2.0 onwards but found no mention of when Zigbee 2006 support was removed.

Which version removed Zigbee 2006 support?

Dears,

When I used ZStack 2.3.1, there is Zigbee 2006 support inside. After I updated to Zstack 2.4.0, Zstack 2.5.0, and 2.5.1, there is only Zigbee Pro. I believe that it has been removed since Zstack 2.4.0.

since there's a de-facto some abuse of language when we refer to ZigBee 2006, I'd like to ask specifically.

Do you mean ZigBee 2006 spec-aligned or ZigBee non-Pro?

All current 2.x releases have support for both Pro and non Pro. From 2.4 release, we removed the non-Pro config from the sample apps but non-Pro support is still there. Please check Upgrading To Z-Stack v2.4.pdf – see section 2.1.2:

Instead, ZigBee 2006-spec aligned support stopped with ZStack-1.4.3

I hope this clears the air.

So we can still use zigbee 2006 scheme to build our network with Z stack 2.4.0 and after. I look at the code/lib and I found zigbee 2006 is still there. you can choose different configuration. Am I right?

ZigBee Pro and non Pro stack profile are both based on ZigBee 2007 spec release.

Let me refine my question as this: What is the difference between Zigbee 2007 NonPro and Zigbee 2006. I am mainly concerned about two issues:

1. addressing: both are tree based?

2. routing: both only support AODV, not many-to-one?

Is there any other difference?

TheDarkSide - to clarify, if I need to build a Coordinator that will work with Zigbee 2006 routers, etc which version of the Z-Stack can I use? I heard from TI that this will no longer be possible with the latest version of the stack.

Only Zigbee 2007 Pro has Many-to-one. It's also the only version that uses Stochastic Addressing.

Zigbee 2007 non-Pro has been deprecated in the Z-Stack.

Hi Derek:

I am able to use Z stack 2.5.0 and configure w/o zigbee pro to build a router that is compatible with Zigbee 2006 Coordinator/Sensor. So I think at least new Z stack can support Non-Pro type of devices.
