CC2531: Not detected by PC after reflashed with Z-Stack

Hi,

I have purchased three CC2531 USB dongles and a CC Debugger. I want to flash these dongles with Z-Stack (to make them behave as ZigBee) to be able to communicate (send and receive messages) from one ZigBee dongle to another.

I have successfully uploaded the hex file created with IAR workbench and have flashed using the flash programmer. As soon as the flashing is completed, the green light disappeared from the dongle (neither shows the red light). Now if I want to communicate one ZigBee (dongle with Z-Stack) with another, can I do so through USB port? If yes, with which software? Smart RF Studio?

I've tried it with the Smart RF studio but no device shows up when the dongle is connected to a USB port and the Smart RF studio is opened. However, the Smart RF Studio detects SoC CC2531 when the debugger is connected in addition to the dongle.

Reiterating the base question: How to send a message from one dongle to another after uploading Z-Stack on to it?

Hi,

What Z-Stack project are you using? If you wish to control the dongles with your PC, you can use the ZNP project on both dongles and then use Z-Tool (provided with Z-Stack in the tools folder) to control each dongle.

Try to download attached sniffer_fw_cc2531.hex to your CC2531 USB dongle to see if it can be recognized by your desktop first.

I'm using Z-Stack available on TI website. Yes, I wish to control it using the PC at the moment.

I haven't used Z-Tool yet and will explore it before getting back to you. But it won't be possible unless the dongle is detected by the PC.

Just a couple of quick questions: is the dongle supposed to show a green light after the z-stack is uploaded using flash programmer or it's ought to show no light (in my case I see nothing)?

Before uploading the new firmware i-e z-stack by TI, I connected the dongle that had the default sniffer firmware installed to the PC and it displayed green light and was detected as well.

Even after the z-stack is uploaded, the flash programmer detects the dongle, allowing to reprogram it, if and only if it's also connected with the Debugger. However, the PC doesn't detect it nor does the Smart RF Studio (without debugger, because at this point we don't need one, right?).

So, actually you are not use Z-Stack. You might need to ask for help from ZBOSS instead of here.

Thank you YiKai. My issue has been resolved. Not using the right stack was the main problem. When used the original and latest Z-Stack from TI website, it worked fine.
