CC2652R: CC2652 Smoke detector application

Hi TI Team,

I am looking to integrate smoke detector to cc2652.

Any hardware interface design (ex: transimpedance amplifier (TIA)) we can use? There is a discussion about it, but looks like no reference design.

I suppose you can reuse tho reference codes in this reference design and porting it to CC2652R

Hi Walter,

Correct, that document is an application report, which differs from a TI design. A TI design will include a reference design.

Note that the CC2652 operates on the 2.4 GHz band, so it will not include the Sub-1 GHz features described in the app report.

Perhaps you may find the following TI design useful as a starting point:
www.ti.com/.../TIDA-01519
It includes a CC1310 for Sub-1 GHz wireless connectivity.

Note that TIDA-01519 detects the alarm from an existing smoke detector. An alarm "listener" of this kind could be used to trigger a notification on a user's phone, for example, indicating the smoke alarm is active. Also, an alarm "listener" design would be advantageous/simpler from the standpoint that it would not have to adhere to the multiple regulatory standards present for smoke detectors.

Hi Gus and Toby,

We want to create our own smoke detector hardware so TIDA-01519 not for us. Also, we want to use CC2652 as base with latest SDK because we have it already.

The 2 references here:

2. Transimpedance Amplifier with Microcontroller Reference Design

Both uses MCU with OA built in. But, in cc2652 we do not have a built in OA .
We want to implement as discrete TIA. Any recommendation?
