There exists a Z-STACK-ARCHIVE solution for the CC2630 / CC2650 devices supporting the Zigbee HA 1.2.2a Specification. However, this software is not recommended for Zigbee project development due to the following reasons:
- As of right now, the Zigbee Home Automation profile is deprecated and only Zigbee 3.0 solutions may be certified by the Zigbee Alliance
- Z-STACK-HOME was released in 2015 and will not have any further updates as support of the profile has ended
- The flash memory footprint of these devices only support Network Processor (ZNP) and End Device (ZED) roles with limited space remaining for additional application development
Furthermore, these devices cannot support the newer Zigbee profiles such as 3.0 due to flash memory constraints. Therefore no updated software releases will be provided in the future. It is therefore advised that users developing with Zigbee technology do not consider the CC2630 or CC2650 devices as a viable option. TI instead recommends evaluating the SimpleLink™ CC13X2 / CC26X2 platform that includes several advantages such as:
- The SIMPLELINK-CC13X2-26X2-SDK which is updated quarterly and supports the latest Z-Stack 3.0 profile
- Multiple EVM options (LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1, LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1, LAUNCHXL-CC1352P-2, LP-CC2652RB, and LPSTK-CC1352R)
- TIRex for access to Z-Stack documents, Zigbee application examples, and SimpleLink Academies
