TIDC-CC2650STK-SENSORTAG: CC2650 Sensortag with Zigbee stack bliking red light on power up(new battery)

Part Number: TIDC-CC2650STK-SENSORTAG
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650, Z-STACK-ARCHIVE, Z-STACK

Hello,

I am currently using a cc2650 sensortag with z stack on it as zigbee end device. On power up, the LED turns red. After doing some research online, I found some posts saying the red light on power up means low battery. So I bought a pack of brand new coin cells and tried it out, result was the same blinking red light. Further tinkering with the other button on the sensortag(options button) while the sensortag was turned on, gave me a green light for 1 second and I was also able to see that the sensortag announcing itself as an end device. But, I am not able to reproduce it again as I can't find any documentation which tells about what the different lights on sensrotag mean. Can i get some help on this issue as to why i get the red blinking light even with the correct firmware in place.

  • Hello Rishab,

LED behavior is dependent on the application loaded to the CC2650 device.  The Z-STACK-ARCHIVE HA 1.2.2a stack does not include low battery LED blink functionality.  So either you have not programmed a correct Z-Stack switch/temperature sensor application project or the behavior is based on application operation including EZ-Mode commissioning and identify timing.  Either way you should review the Z-Stack Home Sample Application User's Guide and sensortagapp.c

    Regards,
