Hi,

Can you elaborate on TI’s plans for the HomeKit Plug-in library? I'm told the hap_cc32xx_4_10_00_04 is the last to be supported. It occurs to me that TI's long term plans might be to shift emphasis to supporting a Bluetooth based Thread mesh network and possibly this would entail a new HAP plug-in? Or maybe not? Any information you have that better explains TI’s roadmap for offering development tools to customers that want to build HomeKit compatible devices using the TI chipset will be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi Steve,

As of today, the HAP 4.10 is the last plugin we are planning to support.

We are following the trend in regards to the smart-home SDK in Apple (https://developer.apple.com/homekit/whats-new/) and are evaluating the CHIP project (https://www.connectedhomeip.com/) as a possible long term replacement.

Hi Kobi,

Thank you for the response. Can you tell me if there is a HAP available for the SimpleLink CC13x2 and/or CC26x2 software development kit (SDK). At first glance I couldn’t see that one was available. If a company wanted to develop a HomeKit compatible device on that TI platform are the tools and libraries available yet, and if not, is there an estimated time that it might be? And as a somewhat related question, I know that the SimpleLink CC32xx SDK does currently provide the tools and HAP library to allow deployment of a HomeKit compatible Wifi device but not a Thread mesh device. Are there any plans to extend the SimpleLink CC32xx SDK with Thread mesh compatibility?

Yes, there is HAP (same 4.10 version) plugin for BLE - see link (https://www.ti.com/tool/SIMPLELINK-SDK-PLUGIN-FOR-HOMEKIT) .

There are no plans to support Thread in the CC32xx SDK.
