Hi,

I'm very interested in the CC26xx solution.

I found some comments about the CC2640+CC2590 design in the last month on this community site.

We were in the process of prototyping a CC2540 with CC2590 & TPS62740 for low current and extended range. Now we're thinking of moving to the more modern CC2640 with a CC2590. This combination will be built into our "Pro" series iOS & Android enabled multimeter. Release schedule for this product is still confidential.

Could you roughly advise me the release schedule for this new design ?

It is very important to my new project schedule, because I can not make a plan for my new project with TI's solution.

Please advise me. :)

The CC2640 with the TPS62740 design is already found on the web, www.ti.com/.../cc2650em-4xs-ext-reg-rd, and is tested to work well. An application note for this will be available shortly.

All preliminar testing with the CC2640 CC2590 design also looks good, but there it a bit more work left before releasing this design. If you want more info on this design, send me a friend request and I can send you the preliminar design.

The reference design for CC26xx with CC2590 is as said work in progress. The preliminary design keeps the CC2640 part as is (except for the RF pins), and follows the CC2541-CC2590EM reference design for the CC2590-part. The matching between the CC2640 and the CC2590 is currently an inductor between RF_N and RF_P pins, but this inductor is currently not mounted.

I am also interested in the cc2640 + cc2590 implementation.

Any updates on the cc2640 + cc2590 reference? when is it planned to be ready?

The Product we are working on has one device (peripheral) in the yard, and the other (central) inside the building.

Using the sensortag cc2650 as peripheral, and the cc2650EM as central, we get pretty lame range results.

At 10 meters with 1 brick wall in the middle, the RSSI is around 85, and connection is not reliable.

Any estimation for how the use of cc2590 will improve the range? (assuming limit is 10DB for other BLE device support).

It sounds strange that the connection is unstable if the RSSI is -85 dBm, still a large margin to the sensitivity limit... Have you tested a LOS connection to see if the same happens in this test set-up? The CC2590 will of course help, you might look at this post for range estimates e2e.ti.com/.../375823
