Hi,

I updated the firmware from 0.91 to 1.12 on one of the TI SensorTags, the update was successful but it stops blinking after I pressed the Power button. I did the same update on another SensorTag, it works fine.

How do I get it to work again? Any way to revert back to the old firmware without CC-debugger?

Try to replace a new battery. If it doesn't work, I think you will need CC-DEVPACK-DEBUGGER and use Flash Programmer 2 to download FW to your CC2650STK.

Thanks for the suggestion. Replacing a new battery does not help. I guess I need a CC-DEVPACK-DEBUGGER. Just curious is this a common problem with SensorTag?

How did you do the upgrade? iOs, Android, BLE Device Monitor?

I used iOS to upgrade the firmware. The upgrade went successfully but the SensorTag does not turn on anymore.

So I am not the only one having the problem :) I just ordered a DEBUGGER, will post my finding once I receive it and try reloading the firmware.

Hi YiKai,

Where can I find the firmware for CC2650? So I can download to SensorTag via Flash Programmer 2 and CC-Debugger?

The SensorTag 2 FW is provided in the Accessories\HexFiles folder of the SDK.

I found one called CC2640xx.hex under the folder. Is it the same one for CC2650? Anyhow, after the firmware (CC2640) uploaded successfully, the Sensortag still does not turn on.

Do you download CC2640_SmartRF_SensorTag.hex under \Accessories\HexFiles of SDK folder?

Thanks for the file.

I tried it and the programming finished successfully but it still does not turn on after pressing the Power button.

Is it complete dead?

Wait, just found that firmware update is good. If I kept the USB cable to CC-Debugger plugged in, then SensorTag works. But if I unplugged the USB cable, it does not tun on as the battery on it does not seem to power it. Its a new battery.

Is it something wrong with the battery connection?

Try to remove CC-DEVPACK-DEBUG from SensorTag after FW download and insert CR2032 to SensorTag to see if it works.

After successfully restoring firmware (v0.89) to my Sensortag, I found that I can only upgrade to v0.91. It will stop working (again) if I upgrade to v1.01 or v1.12 (latest).

It seems that its a problem with this particular Sensortag. My other two work without any problem after upgrading from v0.91 to v1.12. The IMU does not seem to work after sometime with firmware v0.91. Thats reason for me to upgrade to the latest version.

Any advice?

If this only happens on particular SenaorTag, I would suggest you to ask seller for replacement.

I would also recommend that you ask for a replacement. We know also that early firmware versions had problems with the IMU when running on battery. This should be fixed from version 1.12 upwards. Please also not that the latest version is 1.20, based on the newest BLE Stack release (2.1.0). You can download TI's BLE Stack here: www.ti.com/.../ble-stack;HQS=blestack. The firmware HEX files are found in the Accessories folder. The newest firmware is also available as part of the BLE Device Monitor installer: www.ti.com/.../swrc258

Same story happend to me. I bought 2 brand new sensors about 4 days ago(i guess battery is fine).
I updated the firmware from 0.91 to 1.12 via iOS on both of the Sensors, the update was successful. After 2~3 hours of programming (by evothings javascript lib) both stoped blinking. First one of them, then after minute maybe two second one. I can't turn them on.

From your description, it seems your SensorTag runs out of battery. I suggest you replace new battery and test again.
