ETSI EN 300 328 Certification Document

Hi all,

the testing house that certifies our custom CC2540 based bluetooth device wants us to fill in the ETSI EN 300 328 V1.8.1 document.

We've tried to refer to the TI-wiki page about certification and thought they should be able to obtain the necessary information as the processor has been tested before and most of the parameters I don't think I can actually modify.

Still they say they need us to completely fill in this document so I wonder what information I need to give and where I can find it.

I read in another thread that there are many parameters I can leave away because the rf power is below 10 dBm.

So is there any bluetooth-communication-specific information I still need to give (like operating frequency ranges) or is it enough to say the device's max rf power is +4 dBm and that it is not using FHSS and that's it?

    Hello Robin,

    As you probably found, you only need to certify as "other type of wideband modulator" since output power is < +10dBm.

    What parameters do you need?

    okay so I'm not sure if I still need to answer the following:

    In E.1

    c)is it Adaptive/non-adaptive equipment

    I guess it is non-adaptive and I can answer the e.i.r.p. part with 4 dbm and leave the Duty Cycle part blank because it shouldn't matter at all as it's under 10 dbm right?

    f) the worst case operational mode 

    -power spectral density

    -Duty Cycle,Tx-Sequence,TX-gap

    -Medium Utilisation

    -Adaptivity & Receiver Blocking

    -Occupied Channel Bandwidth

    -Transmitter unwanted emissions in the OOB domain

    -Transmitter unwanted emissions in the spurious domain

    -Receiver spurious emissions

    i)operating frequency range(s)

    j)Occupied Channel Bandwidth(s)

     ITU Class(es) of emission

     Can the transmitter operate unmodulated?

    Sorry for asking about so many parameters but I don't know how or if still even need to answer these.

    c) this is non-adaptive yes,

    i) Operating frequency range 2402 MHz- 2480 MHz.
    j) 500 kHz
    f) The other points you refer to are parameters that are to be measured at the test house: power spectral density, occupied channel bandwidth, Transmitter unwanted emission in the OOB domain and in the spurious domain, Reciever spurious emission. For worst case operational mode, I would ask your test house. You are to use normal mode, and test on the lowest, middle and highest frequency of the band you are to use, thus 2402 MHz, 2440 MHz and 2480 MHz. If you have a system with a very low duty-cycle, this is not a very practical mode when running the tests. Our test house prefer that the duty cycle is more than 90%. So for this, the test house should be able to give you the best advice.

    Note that adaptivity, medium Utilisation, Duty Cycle, TX seq and TX gap and Receiver blocking are not relevant as your power is below -10 dBm and you have a non-adaptive system.

    Not sure what you refer to in your last question, the transmitter can of course operate unmodulated, but this is not normal operation and not something you will use.
