Hello All,

I am trying to learn Zigbee HA applications with the help of CC2650.

I would like to communicate between two CC2650(One as End device other one as Coordinator(ZNP+Ztool))

With the help of Zstack documents and some answers from this forum I am able to set up below test environment.

1. Sample Switch (CC2650 End Device) :

I have flashed "Sample Switch" application in this device in LCD screen able to see below lines

"Up : ToggleLight"

"Rt : EZ-Mode"

"Select: Main"

2. Sample Light (Ztool+ZNP) :

- I have flashed "znp_coordinator_pro.hex"

- In Ztool script window executed "znp-bringup.zjs" with proper COM port changes.

- in Ztool, I have given ZB_PERMIT_JOINING_REQUEST with time-out value as 0xFF(Allow always for joining)

- in Ztool , I have given UTIL_GET_DEVICE_INFO and the response was

Could I assume that Zigbee Coordinator is successfully started?

Then, I have pressed SW2 in sample switch(CC2650) and it is trying in EzMode to join any of the available network(??)

Can anyone help me to make communication between end device and Coordinator?

Since you are play with Zigbee Home, you should use znp_coordinator_pro_secure_linkkeyjoin.hex.

I have done as per your suggestion, I got below packet sniffer capture

Then to confirm connection, I have used

So still end device is not connected with Coordinator, Please suggest me if i am wrong

I don't see your ZC response to ZED's beacon request. Can you attach psd file not just a screen shot?

If you run znp-bringup.zjs, the default channel is set to 13. However, your sniffer is on channel 11. You have to switch your packet sniffer to sniff channel 13 to see what happens.

I see ZED sending beacon requests on channel 11 and ZC responses beacon frame with permit join. However, ZED doesn't join. I suggest you trying to erase flash on ZED and download FW to test again.

Then used some of the GET commands in Ztool

I see no problem in your ZC. The beacon frame responses with association enable which means it permits device to join. I suggest you debug your ZED to know why it cannot join.

In Z-Stack Home, you can run ZTool and ZNP as SampleLight.

If you install Z-Stack Home 1.2.2a, you can find Ztool under C:\ti\simplelink\zstack_home_1_02_02a_44539\Tools\Z-Tool. You can find CC2650 ZNP prebuilt image in C:\ti\simplelink\zstack_home_1_02_02a_44539\Projects\zstack\ZAP\ZNP-HexFiles\CC26xx and CC253x prebuilt image in C:\Texas Instruments\Z-Stack Home 1.2.2a.44539\Projects\zstack\ZAP\ZNP-HexFiles

You can use Flash Programmer 2 to download hex file to CC2650. You only have to download ZNP hex image to CC2650. ZTool is a PC tool which let you communicate with ZNP.

Hi YiKai,

I'm trying to test the Zigbee stacks on CC2650s. I noticed that all Ti HA samples for CC2650 have a End device core. Does that mean an additional coordinator is required when I test a switch and a light/ a doorlock and a key on CC2650s? Is there an zigbee sample application that enable the CC2650s work in a rapid network(a key and a lock/ a data collector and a bunch of sensors) just like a central and a pheripheral in BLE stacks?

Yes, coordinator is required when you test a switch and a light/ a doorlock and a key on CC2650. CC2650 doesn't have enough flash to run Zigbee coordinator or router in SOC mode. You need to use ZAP-ZNP for CC2650 to run as coordinator and router.

Thanks for you reply. Since I only have CC2650EMs and Sensortags right now, I suppose I have to apply Ztool+ZNP to test the zigbee stack. I tried the script you uploaded in another post. It was always resetting the EM board. I guess there must be something I did not startup/ setup corretly. I'm a newby on zigbee but I have some experience on BLE development. Could you recomend some resources like quick starter guide about how to operate a ztool +CC2650ZNP coordinator?

Do you have smartRF06EB? If yes, you can run prebuilt hex ZNP image znp_coordinator_pro_secure_linkkeyjoin.hex ( under C:\ti\simplelink\zstack_home_1_02_02a_44539\Projects\zstack\ZAP\ZNP-HexFiles\CC26xx ) on CC265-EM+smartRF06EB and connect it to desktop for Ztool.

Yes, that is what I have done. Currently, I have difficulties on understanding ztool scripts (such like znp-bringupC.zjs). It seems it can run eventually, but I have not a clue about the functionlity of the code in it and how to modify it so that an enddevice can connect the znp. Is there any quick guide other than SWRA442 can speed up my progress.

There is no detail document to describe ZNP script. You can only read the script and try to understand it from comments. You can also refer to sunmaysky.blogspot.tw/.../setup-zigbee-ha-coordinator-with-ti.html and sunmaysky.blogspot.tw/.../how-to-do-device-binding-from-ti-ztool.html which show you basic Zigbee operations with Ztool.
