Connecting CC2650 to an MSP430

I am attempting to connect a CC2650 SensorTag to a board containing an MSP430. Is there any special hardware that I would need to get the BLE connection for this to work? I have run through the SimpleLink Academy demos, but I am not sure if the structure is proprietary or even able to be understood by an MSP430.

Hi Matthew,

Did you do the SNP part of SimpleLink Academy? This will soon be updated with application processor code for MSP432. All you need to do is to connect the two devices through UART or SPI.

Hello Fredrik and rest of the community,
can you use the CC2650MODA with an MSP430 Launchpad? As a student that only learned the basics with a MSP430 the step to MSP432 is frightening ( cause of lack of information and support). It is stated in a side note somwhere, that you can port your projects from MSP430 to MSP432, but it´s not very clear to be honest.. Since it is another architecture...

Or which is the best way to add Bluetooth to your Launchpad these days?

There is a BP that works "out of the box" with MSP432 Launchpad:

I've even run a beta Energia .ino file with this tandem (just not sure if it is available on the latest energia.nu yet).

Can you elaborate your BLE application? If you can implement it with CC2650 SOC mode, I see no reason why you need to use an extra MSP430 or MSP432 connects to CC2650.

Going to build a motion capturing device. 2 and later more 9DOF sensors wired with a central controller, which is running the madgwick AHRS and then sending the data to a Windows PC to work visualize and work with the data.

I think you don't need to use extra MSP430 for this kind of application. You can use LAUNCHXL-CC2650 or CC2650STK to implement this directly.
