CC2640R2 BLE Stack Version 3.0 Vs 2.2.1 Differences and limitations

We are buy a CC2640R2 instead of CC2650 because of BLE 5.0 support

According to Ti web page, CC2640R2 support BLE 5.0

We have are some question.

1. BLE Stack 2.2 support BLE 5.0? and next version support BLE 5.0?

2. BLE 5.0 is only BLE Stack 3.0 support?

3. What is mean

BLE-STACK V3.0 (Support for CC2640R2F) => mean to only CC2640R2F?

BLE-STACK V2.2.1 (Support for CC2640/CC2650/CC1350) => Not support CC2640R2F and BLE 5.0?

Answers to your question :

1. BLE Stack 2.2 support BLE 5.0? and next version support BLE 5.0?

--> None of the chip set with BLE stack 2.xxx will support Bluetooth 5

2. BLE 5.0 is only BLE Stack 3.0 support?

--> BLE stack 3.0 is for CC2640R2F chip but the software only support Bluetooth 4.2

--> For Bluetooth 5 software release in 2017, please refer to the recent announcement.

3. What is mean

BLE-STACK V3.0 (Support for CC2640R2F) => mean to only CC2640R2F?

--> Yes

BLE-STACK V2.2.1 (Support for CC2640/CC2650/CC1350) => Not support CC2640R2F and BLE 5.0?

--> Yes
