CC2650STK: IR temperature sensors were deprecated from June 2017

Hello,

I just found the IR temperature sensors integrated on the CC2650 STK were deprecated from June 2017 via the "CC2650 SensorTag User's Guide". It is described as follows:

Please anybody knows why TI deprecates the IR temperature sensors? And is any other temperature sensor used to instead them?

Hi Tang,

On the STK we now measure the ambient temperature in one of the other sensors. For temperature sensing specifically I recommend that you look at other parts in the TMP series.

Thanks Fredrik, but I cannot understand it very well. Is TMP007 removed from CC2650STK from June 2017? If so, please could you introduce the reason and is any other temperature sensor instead of TMP007? It is very important for me, because we plan to develop with CC2650STK for temperature measurement and also found the temperature values are not very accurate. Thank you very much.

Hi Tang,

The TMP007 was removed because it is now NRND. We are currently using the temperature sensor in the HDC1000 to measure ambient temperature.

Keep in mind the CC2650STK is a demonstration kit, not an end product. If you require better accuracy or have other design constraints you have to design your product accordingly.

Hello Fredrik,

Sorry to trouble you. But I found the status of HDC1000 is also NRND via the TI link. Do you have any temperature sensor recommended to measure the ambient and object (normally from 40 ℃ to 60 ℃) temperatures with low power and high accuracy (about ±1 ℃ or lower) as an external device to CC2650STK?
Now I keep an old version of CC2650STK, do you recommend us to keep using it to measure the ambient and object temperature directly or we had better to use two external sensors?

Hi Tang,

You are right. We probably have to change HDC1000 to HDC1010 or HDC2010.

For temperature sensor recommendations, you need to go to the appropriate forum as Jeff pointed to earlier.
