CC2640R2F: What's the difference of BLE5 SDK with CC2640R2F, CC2642 and CC2652?

Part Number: CC2640R2F
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1352R, CC2642R, CC2652R, BLE-STACK, SIMPLELINK-CC2640R2-SDK

Dear Champs,

For BLE5, could you kindly share what's the difference of BLE5 SDK with CC2640R2F, CC2642 and CC2652?

If you have any suggestion, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks a lot.

  • CC2640R2F is cortex-M3 based solution with 275KB of Nonvolatile Memory Including 128KB of In-System Programmable Flash and Up to 28KB of System SRAM, of Which 20KB is Ultra-Low Leakage SRAM. CC2642/CC2652 is cortex-M4 based solution with 352KB of In-System Programmable Flash, 256KB of ROM for Protocols and Firmware352KB of In-System Programmable Flash, and 80KB of Ultra-Low Leakage SRAM. In other words, CC2642/CC2652 provides better performance and larger Flash/RAM for application.
  • Dear YK,

    Thanks for your reply.
But my problem is focus on the difference between these three device on BLE5.0 stack.
Do these device all implement BLE5 all function but only limited on memory size?
    Or any radio limitation?

    Thanks a lot.
  • As I know, there is no difference on BLE 5.0 stack. These device all implement BLE5 all functions.
  • Hello Janet,

    The CC2640R2F and CC2652R/CC2642R/CC1352R devices support BLE5-Stack 1.1.x (the CC2640R2F also supports the BT 4.2 stack BLE-Stack 3.x).

For specific features, I would refer you to the release notes for each SDK. See the links on the BLE wiki.

    Best wishes
  • Dear JXS,

Got it, I will suggest customer develop BLE5.0 starting from CC2640R2F SIMPLELINK-CC2640R2-SDK V1.50.
As you said, it support BLE5.0 all feature no matter each CC2640R2F and CC2652R/CC2642R/CC1352R SDK.
The detail I will check it on release note.

If you have any suggestion, please feel free to let me know.
    Thanks a lot.
