LAUNCHXL-CC2640R2: Transmitter Signal to Noise specification

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC2640R2

For my application, I need to understand the signal-to-noise (SNR) of the transmitter i.e. what is the in-band noise power? Currently I am looking at the adjacent channel power as a rule of thumb. Many thanks, James.

  • Not sure if we have some numbers here since when we measure TX we measure the total output power.

Is it possible to elaborate why you need this number?
  • Thanks TER for the fast reply.

We are doing a tracking beacon application, and the theory tells us that at close range the transmitter SNR is the limiting factor.

  • As said we don't haven't done any measurements on this. ACP will give an indication but in many cases what you see in the adjacent channel is also some energy of the signal modulation. For this I would assume that you should do some measurements yourself if possible. Using a CW, a low RBW, it should be possible to measure the power at the in band frequencies with the PA on.
