CC2640: Programming device with minimum PINs from XDS110

Hi,

I have the CC2640R2F launchpad. Now I am trying to program an external CC2640R2F but instead a 7x7, it is a 5x5 package. I am using the XDS110 Debug Probe tools but I can not program the device.

I am using FLASH PROGRAMMER APP

AND this is the error:

Also when I try to test the scan connection for CTAG mode, my probe is not successful:

An error occurred while hard opening the controller.

This error is generated by TI's USCIF driver or utilities.

The value is '-260' (0xfffffefc).
The title is 'SC_ERR_XDS110_OPEN'.

The explanation is:
An attempt to connect to the XDS110 failed.
The cause may be one or more of: no XDS110 is connected, invalid
firmware update, invalid XDS110 serial number, or faulty USB
cable. The firmware and serial number may be updated using the
xdsdfu utility found in the .../ccs_base/common/uscif/xds110
directory of your installation. View the ReadMe.txt file there
for instructions.

Does somebody know what is happening?

Hi,

The signals you need to do this are nRESET, TMS, TCK, and GND.

Is VDDS 3.35 V? Can you share a photo of your connection?

Yes, VDDS is the same as 3.35 voltage. The real voltage is 3.4V. Do you mean my physical connection?
The debugger is connected with TMSC, TCKC, MCU_RESET, GND and VDDreal=3.4V to JTAG_TMSC, JTAG_TCKC, RESET_N, GND and VDDS of CC2640R2 respectively

Hi Adriana,

Are you powering your target board from the launchpad? I suggest you power your target board from another source.

I have always used hex to program CC2640R2F custom boards. I don't know if .out will work. Try also selecting the "Pages in range".

Hi,

I am powering my target from an external source.

I changed from XDS110 to XDS100V3 usb debug probe. Now, I can program my device with FLASH PROGRAMMER but only after I erase all flash.
When I try to program with code composer studio, it says "LOAD PROGRAM ERROR.... load failed"
"File Loader: Memory write failed: Timed out waiting for target flashloader to execute command
GEL: File: ... Load failed."

Can you take a picture to show us how you connect XDS110 from LAUNCHXL-CC2640R2F to your custom board?

Hi Adriana,

Here is my Programming/Debugging setup to a CC2640R2F Custom Board. I have programmed this using SmartRF Flash Programmer 2 more than 100x and have done CCS debug numerous times. The Target Board is powered using 2xAA battery and I connect the signals from CC2640R2F Launchpad nRESET, TMS, TCK and GND.
