CC2530 ZNP for Home automation profile

I am looking for some examples for using the CC2530 with ZNP for HA profile ( e.g. light switch / dimmer )
Are there any examples available (and which ZNP binary is required) . Do not want to invest in a $$$ I*R compiler, so ZNP seems the way to go.

You can use Zigbee MINI kit which has CC2530 & MSP. The Home Automation examples available in Zstack for SimpleLight, SimpleSwitch shall be your starting point. The core Zigbee Stack is running in CC2530 , and since the applications are running in MSP, you may use opensource compilers. But a significant porting effort required.

Hi,

you can take a look at our ZAP code, which is a port on MSP430 of the application framework (cluster library, profile and application) on top of OSAL.

Please check out Z-Stack Home 1.2.0\Projects\zstack\ZAP of your Z-stack Home install directory

Though the examples are provided as IAR workspace, you can use this as starting point and port to other IDEs.

These examples use ZNP as 'ZigBee core stack modem'. So no change is required on that and you could use the ZNP hex files that are available in Z-Stack Home 1.2.0\Projects\zstack\ZAP\ZNP-HexFiles sub-folder.

can i just use the cc2531 as ZAP and ZNP in the same time ,i mean implement my all project with the z-stack and the user application in the cc2531 ??

There is no problem to do such application on CC2531.

CHen ,plz i need a clear answer,i need a document which lead me and show me what i have to do to achieve my application ,my problem is i found many code sourse and i dont know which one i have to work on it ,i understand the zigbee network and its specification ,the ZCL but i can't forward on the implementation of the code,to (for example ) to put on or off a light ,what i should i do?

Since you don't want to invest money to buy IAR lincese, how can you compile your own code to combine ZAP with ZNP?

Dear Chen,
no ,that's no problem with IAR,i had it ,the problem is what can i do to modifiate the z-stack , and implement a code using iar ,i want to prepare a project wich can communicate with on other ZAP,the meaning is : for example ,configure and ..... in on/off cluster in HA profile to turn on/off the light ,that's my work ,on other engineer will prepare the ZAP wich send a command (for exemple touch screen wich through it he can turn on the light) ,so my program will read this command wich come from the ZAP and through the usb donge (based on cc2531 configure as coordinator ) will send the command to an end-device wich turn the light on ,so my job to program this usb dongle to read the command incoming from the ZAP and send it to the end-device ,i think now my question is clear

Dear Chen ,

if for example i will send a command to turn on the light ,is -it correct to use the SW on/off from the home autmation profile (i mean the switch on/off clusters) in the coordinator using the appropriate attributies ,and the samplelight cluster in the end-device (a light for example) ,i mean if i wanna do this project ,i just need the atributies or i need an ther things ,i search on the net but i can't find how to make the steps to achieve this work .

You should use ZCL command to do this not using attributes. You can refer to SampleSwitch example which shows you how to send ZCL toggle command by API zclGeneral_SendOnOff_CmdToggle.

No, you have to know the active endpoint and short address to send command.

You can add your application code in zcl_samplelight.c, zcl_samplelight.h and zcl_samlplelight_data.c

Basically, the IO of CC2530 and CC2531 are the same except CC2531 has pin 1,2,3,and 4 as USB IO. I suppose you don't have to modify the HAL and it would works on CC2531.

FYI - in the Z-Stack Home 1.2.2 installation, the HAL target for the CC2531 is called CC2530USB...

Hi James,
As I know, there is no SOP to for this. Basically, the HAL drivers are basically the same. You can refer to ZNP project which has CC2530 and CC2531 configurations.

Dear Chen,

i ask how can i use the end device products like the lights and alarms ,because i will configure the cc2531 as a coordinator , but i ask if these devices is already configured or not ??i mean the MCU of these devices is already proghrammed or not ???

I don't understand your question well. Where is your end device, e.g. Light and alarms , from? You program them or from 3rd party?

i didnt have SmartRF05EB to programm the dongle usb cc2531 ,can i program it through cc debugger ??

Hi Nidhal,
Yes, you can use CC Debugger to program CC2531 USB dongle. You can refer to CC2531EMK quick start guide (www.ti.com/.../swra276.pdf).

and for the framework ,i found cc2531SB.hex and cc2531ZNP-PRO.hex and i will use the dongle for home automation ,so wich one i must choose to implement in the dongle.

If you install Z-Stack Home 1.2.2, you should use CC2531ZNP-Pro-Secure_LinkKeyJoin.hex in C:\Texas Instruments\Z-Stack Home 1.2.2.42930\Projects\zstack\ZAP\ZNP-HexFiles\CC2531
