HI ,, i was working on Zigbee mesh networking and i have done my prototyping on Digi Xbee modules and PIC18f66j94 ,,, but for production we are thinking for switching from Xbee to TI's SOC CC2530 ... so after reading a lot of technical documents on TI website , i m still confused that will i be able to interface SOC CC2530 chip with pic without any other major component, like MSP430 or do i need CC Debugger or IAR compiler ,,, i m very confused on this regard ,,, i just want to interface cc2530 chip with PIC18f66j94 .. so kindly help me here .. Thanks

According to your descriptions, you can use ZAP+ZNP architecture on CC2530. PIC18f66j94 acts as ZAP and CC2530 acts as ZNP. You will need CC debugger to download ZNP image to CC2530 and don't have to use MSP430 or IAR in this architecture. You can download and install Z-Stack Home 1.2.2. You can read Z-Stack ZNP Interface Specification.pdf and Z-Stack Monitor and Test API.pdf in document folder to know more detail about ZAP+ZNP.

Does Z-Tool is used to burn ZNP image to cc2530 ,,, and i have installed it ,, and does it need work on COM port with uart to serial converter to cc2530 without any other main component? am i right? and which software will burn image through cc debugger?

No, you have to use CC debugger and SmartRF Flash Programmer to download ZNP image to CC2530. Z-Tool is for you to test ZNP on PC.

well i have XDS200 of TI in my lab ,, and SmartRF Flash Programmer has support of XDS200 so this can also b used instead of cc debugger ,, ?
and will packet snifffers and IAR can be used with XDS 200 . Thanks so much :)

No, you have to use CC debugger to download FW to CC2530.

and in this architecture ,,, it will be complete mesh routing ,, hops , multihops etc ,,, with cc2530

If you have routers in your system, it would do mesh routing, hops, and multihops.

i understand ,,, and why IAR is being used to make HEX files ,,, i think basic firmware for coordinator , router and end device will work

my question is that do i need to purchase IAR for dev of my system ,,, because when our system will go into production then our nodes will be more than 500+ so for large scale productoin do i need purchase IAR ? cz trial is just for 30 days

If you use ZAP+ZNP architecture, you don't have to buy IAR.

Oh i got it ,,, i understood ,, it means IAR will only be used if i use cc2530 as zigbee transiever and host controller ,,, but if i have external controller then i dunt have to use IAR ,, thanks man ,, :)
