WL18xx current consumption during calibration

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WL1831MOD

Table 6-1 of the WL1831MOD datasheet lists a parameter of "Maximum peak current consumption during calibration"; I have a few questions about this procedure in order to do some battery calculations:

1. About how long is this calibration routine?  a) at wakeup  b) periodically once the link is established

2. Is it possible to disable/enable this calibration?

Thanks

  • Hi,

The calibration is done both on wakeup and also periodically every 5min.

The calibration is essential in order to guarantee the quality of the RF performance.

It cannot be disabled or changed externally.

The calibration which consumes the high current consumption is the DPD calibration (internal PA digital pre-distortion). In order to calibrate it we are running training pulses train to cover all power range (from high power to low power) on each Tx chain (BG1, BG2 ,A) - for BG chain 5 pulses and for A chain 3 pulses. Each pulse takes <4us and for the high power pulses the current consumption during the pulse can reach 850mA (worst case consumption).

Let me know if there is any other question or any concern related to the described calibration policy.

    Best regards,
