How many BLE devices can connect to iOS simultaneously?

I admit, this is more of an iOS than a BLE question, but i will try my luck here anyways.

How many BLE devices can connect to an iOS device at any one time and send and receive data simultaneously? I am investigating BLE for a sensor network where more than 3 BLE devices would want to report sensor data to iOS in realtime.
