First I read all problem similarities here:

I Also Have the somewhat same problem here... Sometimes the data flows in and then just hang.

then i tried to follow this "9- axis Motion Tracking Device" GATT profile link:
www.ti.com/.../tearDown.html (Attention, lot of information uncertainty here please check by your self)
and try to access it using another 3rd BLE moitoring app (following this step : Config Axis Enable -> Config Data Rate -> Enable Notifications)

First i tried to access only 3 axes accelerometer data and it succeeded to give me streaming notification data. Then i tried to enable gyro axes only and weird things started to happen, magnetometer data also coming out!. Lastly i tried to access all 9 axes at once and it only start to pouring it just 2 or 3 data sample and then hang! The first time i bought it it seems i have no problem with simple link android app, but know it behaving really weird.

Is this a battery issue or do i need to change my firmware? Please I need some advice.

My context are:
Phone : Android Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (Lolipop)
Battery Voltage :2.99 Volt
Firmware Revision String: 0.89 (Jan 31 2015)
Software Revision String: 40270

*Update

It turns out that i wrongly set the configuration Bit field. i forgot to set the bit number 9.
Now all 9 axes works very well.

By the way, I think www.ti.com/.../tearDown.html
Needs some explanation about Range configuration (Range: bit 8,9) and scaling documentation.

It turns out the original problem still persist.. It just keep hanging after few seconds...

Hi Muhammad,

We have done a number of FW fixes on the SensorTag since 0.89 so I recommend updating to the latest (1.01).
There are work in progress on a new version of the Android application that should help on a number of bugs.

The Android BLE stack is unfortunately complicated to work with as there are a number of undocumented features/bugs we have to work our way through to get a stable application.

To upgrade the firmware which utility i need?
The debug dev pack or the CC2540 Dongle?

Right now the current version of the Android application does not support upgrading over-the-air but the iOS application does.
If you don't have an iOS device available you will need the CC Debug DevPack.

I Updated the firmware to 1.01 using iOS yesterday, But The problem still persist.
When i tried to get all 9 axes data the Sensortag2 didn't output any data (Tested both using iOS Sensor Tag App and Manually invoke the BLE Profile Characteristicsusing other BLE APP).
Then i tried to get only each acc or gyro then data start pouring in, but the problem is Acc and gyro data lies on the same service characteristic and i cannot switch between them to get both motion data for the exact time frame (for sensor fusion).

I can get all the other sensors to work apart from movement data. Regardless of what configuration values I pass in I get no data coming back?

Can you try changing batteries and see if it helps? The minimum supply voltage for the MPU9250 is 2.4V. A coin cell battery with little juice left might have voltage dips below this.

Hi, I have 3 brand new SensorTags all with brand new 3V batteries in them and I get same results on all three?

Can you possible clarify the bit setting to enable just the accelerometer at 2G? I am passing in the value 56 which would be bits 3,4,5 and leaving all others at 0

I have also tried setting them all to on, gyro, accelerometer and compass with 127, bits 0,1,2,3,4,5,6 set and all other at 0

Hi,

I have assigned a SensorTag expert your question.

Does the SensorTag movement data work when you use the latest original FW? (Found in Accessories/HexFiles/CC2640_SmartRF_SensorTag.hex in the BLE 2.1 release).
We previously had some issues using the MPU sensor as the configuration of it in the BLE 2.0 release drew too much current, causing it to reset and data was lost from it.

56 should enable all 3 axes with 2G range. You might also need to enable notifications and configure the sampling period.

I am using firmware version 1.12 (June 23 2015) is this correct? And yes the data does work on the iPad app from TI

I do set notifications to true but presumed sample period had a default value...

Hi svend. The lastest FW still does not work. The motion data appears for the first 10 seconds and then zeros out.
The problem is very likely wake-on-movement related.
As shown below, if line 293 of SensorTag_Mov.c is commented, the motion data is shown normally.

Further to this issue, I discovered even with the WOM feature removed, the motion data stops showing after disconnect and reconnect.
