Hi Champs,

Does a CC3200 client support changing the APs it is connected to on the fly?

If yes what is the mechanism/speical API if any for this? Can the SSIDs of the APs be different or all have to be the same? Please let me know....

Please assume we are using APs in a wireless network that support roaming.

All the APs are configured with the same ssid, but in different channels.

Hi,

CC3200 doesn't support roaming (802.11r).

However, upon a connection loss the device will disconnect and reconnect automatically to the same SSID (even it is a different AP). It isn't roaming, since the CC3200 will pass thru a disconnection phase before reconnecting (unlike roaming which just reconnects).

From socket perspective, unless the reconnection is very slow, the socket will stay up and running. so, for most use cases this should be fine.
