Hello , I am student and I am currently working on CC2650 Development Kit for the first time . My purpose is trying a Packet Error Test. I set the Tx and RX in different channels at BLE mode and I have used the 0dB output Power.In certain channels where there is an amount of not received ok packets , when I resend it in the same parameters I don't get the same answer. Is it supposed to be ok? And also i got very confused with noises. When do we consider to have one?

I am just making sure I am on the right track , so I would really appreciate an answer.

Do you use SmartRF Studio to do packet error rate test? If so, you should set TX and RX to the same channel. Then, for example, you can send 100 TX packets to see how many packets are received by RX to compute error rate.

Yes I do set them in the same channel . I don't understand when can we consider a noise and is it normal that if for the same chanel with the same parameters not to get the same answer of not received ok packets if we retest it?

The 2.4 GHz space is crowded since the total numbers of channels available is limited and the partially overlap. From this it is expected that you get some packet errors when you do PER testing in some of the channels. The number of errors and on which channel will be dependent on the networks operating around you. You can down load a app on your phone to check how busy the different wifi channels are and see if this correlate with what you are seeing. Since it's noise the numbers of packet error from time to time will not be deterministic.

Actually I have two questions: when i redo the test again for a certain channel i don't receive the same answer for the number of not received ok packets.
The second question is when doing a PER test when do we know that we are dealing with noise?
