CC2541: RF for gas sensor platform

You can use the optimum load impedance from datasheet and use that to design the 4-element balun. TI optimizes the design for best RF performance so it is recommended that our reference designs be followed.

These are commonly known as lattice type LC balun and their theoretical treatment is available in common RF text books. You can also use a freely available RF circuit calculator AppCAD to design this circuit.

Was it an educated guess for it to be a 4 element balun or 6 Element balun?

For instance how would one choose or create correct balun for the gas platform application?

It would seem that you have used the same balun for the meander since Johanson does not do meander matching. We believe that the meander is @ 50 ohms just like the chip antenna by Johanson. Kindly help us understand the meander impedance of 50 ohms.

The reference examples of pdf use Meander instead of chip antenna. We presume that the meander antenna has same impedance of chip antenna of 50ohms.
How did you arrive to the 50 ohms impedance using the meander antenna ?
Does the meander for both look the same? Both means gas project and ads1293 since both projects use cc2541.

Where and how was the meander designed and developed and tested.
Is there a pdf showing how the meander impedance was arrived to?
