TRF7963A: Where to tune for increased reading range?

Hi,

My customer is using TRF7963A for their digital doorlock system.

They have 3 questions as below.

1. Is there any minimum size spec about Antenna Dimension?(Width, Height, pattern width, inductance)

2. They are now using 20mmX30mm antenna. to increase the reading range, what can they do?

3. in case of they are using 20mmX30mm antenna, what is the estimated reading range?

    1) No, but they need to be able to tune the antenna to match at 50 ohm point for the TRF7963A impedance match network.
    2) If they follow our antenna tuning app note, they may be able to improve the read range by creating an optimal matching setup for their application. The app note includes information on targeted bandwidths for various tag technologies. Following the app note would be the best way for them to improve their performance: www.ti.com/.../sloa241
    3) No idea, it depends on many application specific factors such as antenna tuning, what power is provided to the TRF7963A (3.3V? 5V?), and what tag technology they are using...
