I'm looking for some guidance on the design of an array of antennas to be used in a very short range application where each antenna should only activate the tag at that station and not its neighbors.

    Hello Chris,

    Our antenna design guide will be very useful for you: www.ti.com/.../sloa241

    In terms of your application requirements, it depends on the tag technology and tag size. In general I would recommend fairly small antennas that only couple well with tags in the immediate vicinity. Also operating the TRF7970A at 3.3V will help suppress the read range. Lastly off-tuning the antenna would limit the read range.
