TRF7970A: What is the response time of using two devices P2P with active link

Part Number: TRF7970A

Hello Team,

My customer needs to know what is communication response time between two TRF7970A with both of them has active RF link?

The purpose is to transmit a word with a few bytes.

Thanks in advance

Best,

Shai

  • Hello Shai,

With active P2P mode the minimum response time can vary greatly if it is hard to establish the RF link. This is something we see commonly with active P2P mode and it isn't just for our device but rather general behavior of the Active P2P mode. In fact, as far as I am aware, the NFC Forum still has not released test cases for Active P2P.

If an RF link is quickly established, the communication time will be in the 10's of milliseconds range for a few bytes of data, but it could take into the 100's of milliseconds just to establish an RF link.

If the application is timing sensitive, I would strongly urge use of passive P2P mode in order to have a more robust RF link that will quickly established when the device antennas are brought within range.
