CC2592 vs. CC2595

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2592, CC2595, CC2650, CC2538

Hi team,

We are looking for a range extender for Bluetooth Classic and came across two devices in the TI portfolio, CC2592 and CC2595. CC2592 appears to be in our wireless connectivity group while the CC2595 appears to be in our amplifiers group. What is the difference between these two devices and which would be a better choice in our BT Classic application? Do we have any test data on how these two devices will perform in a Bluetooth application?

Regards,

Akash Patel

  • Hi Akash,

The CC2595 is designed to work with our BT Controller parts, CC256x, while the CC2592 is designed to work with out low power radio SoCs, the CC25xx and CC26xx series.

Performance data for both can be found in the datasheet. For CC2592 there is additional information in application reports covering the combined usage with CC2538 and CC2650.

  • Hi Fredrik,

Are these also compatible with non-TI BT controllers/SoCs? Also, what properties of the CC2595 make it incompatible with SoCs?

    Akash
  • Hi Akash,

They can work with any radio, but we do not have any examples for connecting them to any non-TI devices. CC2592 is not incompatible with SoCs, it is just targeting operation with CC256x.

    Fredrik
