Possible frequency range of a new example "rfPacketErrorRate_CC1310DK_7XD_TI_CC1310F128"

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1310

Hello, I am programming CC1310 high speed mode at 433MHz by modifying the program in TI Resource Explorer.

After porting the excerpt of the original code into mine, I saw the modulated signal at 868MHz and 915MHz, but couldn't see the signal at 433MHz.

It seems that the signal is not radiated at the band below about 850MHz.

May I be right? If this is true, how can I use high speed mod at 433MHz.

Please let me know how I fix this problem.

I used TI CC1310DK_7XD_EB and our custom CC1310_4x4 board and obtained the same result in the two boards.

Thanks in advance.

  • We are looking into this at the moment and will get back to you!
  • 4 Mbps is only possible on 868 MHz/ 915 MHz frequency band due to some physical limitations in the chip. Lower datarates than 4 Mbps should not be an issue.
  • Thank you for the quick response.

    I appreciate your description.

    I have some additional questions.

Don't you have any plan to support 4mbps mode at 433MHz?

If not possible physically, how much speed can be possbile at 433MHz?

Is it possible to transmit with around 2Mbps?

    Thanks again.

  • We have only tested up to 500 kbps @ 433 MHz as far as I know but my understanding is also that the chip limitation is for 4 MHz.
  • Thank you for replying my question.

First, I'd like to ask a question that arises from your response.

You said : my understanding is alos that the chip limitation is for 4MHz.

That means the cc1310 can provide 4Mbps at 433MHz?

The support of above 2Mbps at 433MHz is very important because our company is planning to develop and produce

RF transceiver at the band using cc1310. If the chip cannot provide the speed at the band, we must consider

another band. So, I'd like to know whether TI has any schedule to support high speed mode at 433MHz.

You might have a long time to know the schedule, but I'd wait for your exact answer.

    Thank you.

  • I think the maximum on 433 MHz is 1.5 Mbps. Some of the key people on this are on vacation so I haven't been able to double check.
  • Hello, the employees of TI

I am asking again the unresolved question that I asked a month ago.

I want to know whether the high speed mode is supported in the band of 433MHz.

At that time, I checked the high speed mode is only possible above 860MHz.

Our company is now developing a motion image transceiver at the band using CC1310.

So, the support of high speed mode at the band is very import to us.

Please let me know the answer. Thank you.

  • As I understand it the bandwidth in Tx is a function of the loDivider. For 4 Mbps @868 MHz the Tx bandwidth is set to max. On 433 MHz the loDivider increase by 2 and thereby reduce the available bandwidth => It's not possible to do 4 Mbps on 433 Mhz in Tx.
  • Thank you  TER.

    I understood your description,

But, when I tested the code of high speed mode, no signals radiated from RF front end.

I thought I could see the signal although I couldn't get 4 mbps.

Is it normal that the signal is not created at the band of 433MHz in the high speed mode?

Can we acheive 2Mbps or 1Mbps at the band of 433MHz?

    I appreciate your kind answer.

  • Hello,

8FSK modulation scheme implemented in 4mbps mode is complex and it is possible that an internal error was generated at 433MHz. Currently, we have been able to do functional testing up to maximum data rate of 1.5mbps at 433MHz. Since the characterization is not yet done, we are not able to release this mode yet.

    Regards,
  • Thank you for your quick response.

    All questions have been solved.

    We wait your software release.

    Thanks again.
