SMARTRFTM-STUDIO: Virus alert for v2.9.0 download

Genius 12760 points
Part Number: SMARTRFTM-STUDIO

Customer´s global corporate antivirus software doesn't allow to download SmartRF Studio 7 Installer v2.9.0 ZIP file.
Their system reports "Virus detected in "Win32.WGeneric.qlvkh" and blocks the download.
This didn't happen with v2.8.0.

  • Hello BO,

It could be the virus database got updated. I recommend just turning off the antivirus while it installs. Let me ocntact the Tools team and see what they think of this.

  • AB,

the download of the ZIP is blocked already and the engineer got a call from his IT manager what he is trying to do.
He is not allowed to deal with such software and I would never recomend to switch off the scanner when they don't do it on their own decision.
The question comes up what is new from v2.8.0 to v2.9.0 causing this alert at ZIP download?

    Regards, Bernd

  • Hi,

We have from time to time seen that e.g. the SmartRF Studio installer intermittently triggers false positives on different antivirus software. We scan the ZIP file against many of the most popular antiviruses. For v2.9.0 we got false positives on "bkav" and "Antiy-AVL". We are looking into resolving these false positives with aforementioned SW. What antivirus SW is the customer seeing these issues on?

We are also working on signing future installers in hope to avoid such false positives.
  • Aasmund,

customer is using the antivirus technology embedded in Palo Alto Firewalls.

    Regards, Bernd
  • Hi, I scanned the SmartRF Studio 7 v2.9.0 executable again today (using VirusTotal, link to analysis). "Palo Alto Networks (Known Signatures)" does not give a false positive on the file.

I recommend that the customer contacts Palo Alto Networks to resolve their issues.

  • Customer will check with Palo Alto and I hope they can manage it.

    Thank you and kind regards,
    Bernd
