CC1200: TI's product that can do RF commuication at around 4.9 - 5.9 GHz

Dear TI's officers,

I am interested in the CC1200DK module. However, as I can see, the module can only communicate at sub-GHz frequency only.

Does TI have any product that can communicate wirelessly at 4.9 GHz, or as high as 5.9 GHz ?

Also, can I control the communication power of the CC1200 MCU, as well as any other wireless MCU, because I want to control the communication distance ?

- Could you elaborate a bit on the need for using up to 5.9 GHz?
- For CC1200 and CC13xx, yes, you are able to adjust the output power.

My boss says he wants to have wireless communication at that frequency, around 4.9 GHz to 5.9 GHz. Is there any product of TI that can achieve that frequency, TER?

Not that I know of. But the group that covers the forum you have posted in only have sub 1 GHz and 2.4 GHz circuits.

Hello TER,

For the CC1200 mcus, you said that I can control the output power. But how exactly would I do that? Is it controlled by hardware, software or by some switch settings?

Just to avoid confusion: You are planning to use CC1200 even though it does not support the frequency band you want to use?

Download www.ti.com/.../SMARTRFTM-STUDIO then you will see what you have to change to get the wanted output power. This is also covered in the UserGuide: www.ti.com/.../swru346b.pdf
