CC3000 SSL/TLS and SNMP support?

Hi,

Is SSL/TLS and SNMP(>v.1.1) able to support on MSP430FR5739+CC3000 plartform?

In my understanding, these should be port on MCU side and depend on MCU memory/MHz is large enough or not. Is there any information of which type protocol/features are reqruiring how much MCU memory size, CPU MHz to support?

The CC3000 Itself does not support SSL, but it can be implemented on top of TCP in a suitable microcontroller. Unfortunately, it is not possible to run the necessary algorithms on the FR5739 itself given that they are very intensive and the FR5739 is very small. Either an accelerator chip would be needed or you may use a Cortex-M3 device.

There is a working SSL demo for Stellaris CortexM3 with the Ethernet (not CC3000) and we hope to have a similar demo in the near future.

Gustavo,

For SSL, how about large memory type MSP430 like F5438 or F5328? Or, MSP430 cpu core performance (<25MHz) does not meet SSL implementation?

The MSP430 is very slow and even if any kind of SSL will fit (which is unlikely given the limited amount of RAM available), it will take much longer than anyone might be willing to wait.

Hi Tako-San,

Just for your information, DH/RSA key negotation takes ~12-30 seconds on the MSP 430. This will cause the endpoint to close the SSL socket.
