CC3200 Uniflash "Error loading DLL" message

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, CC3200

So I'm eagerly trying to follow along with the CC3200 LaunchPad Project0 tutorial video. Everything was going along well, but the Uniflash application is not working at all. When I run the instruction to "format", the output in the Uniflash console is full of "Error loading DLL" messages which seems to be preventing Uniflash from working properly (see below). Is Uniflash misconfigured somehow? Does anyone have any ideas? I am running on Win7 x64 Home. I tried running in an admin account and it didn't help. Any suggestions welcome!

  • Hi Dan,

These DLL are actualy loaded to the device right at the beginning. Error in loading them means that either they are missing from your Uniflash directory tree or maybe permission issue.

Can you elaborate more on the procedure:

    1. Uniflash version?
    2. what operating system are you running?
    3. Did you downloaded and installed Uniflash from skretch or upgraded an existing Uniflash?
    4. Any errors/warnings during installation?

You can always try and reinstall and check if it happens.

  • Hi Shlomi,

I am away from the computer I was using uniflash on, but it was a clean install of the latest version downloaded from the TI site on Windows 7 home x64. The account was not an admin account, but I did not encounter any errors during the uniflash installation.

I will try to uninstall/reinstall and see if that clears things up. Are there specific dll files in the uniflash distribution that I should check for to see if they are missing first?

    Thanks!
    Dan
  • Hi Dan,

Please try and let me know. All rbtlxxx.dll files are under .\eclipse\plugins\com.ti.uniflash.wireless.files_<ver>\cc3xxx\bin.

  • Hi Shlomi,

I used an admin account and uninstalled all of the TI software, then re-downloaded and installed them. I still have the same error output in Uniflash. Here are the contents of the directory you listed (below). There are files there, but some seem a little small (< 1k)? Do you see anything obvious? I am going to try another Win7 PC that I have. I'll let you know how that goes...

    Thanks!

  • Hi Shlomi,

I was able to install the CC3200 toolchain on another Windows 7 PC this morning without a problem. This one new is running Windows 7 Ultimate. I am not sure what is wrong with the other PC, but I am happy to just go ahead and use the new one. If you want me to look at anything on the failing PC, let me know. Thanks for all of your help.

    Dan

  • Thanks Dan,

This is the 1st time this happens and I tend to think it relates to something in your PC but I'm not sure why.

If you have time you can try and find the discrepancy between the two but I suggest you go ahead and explore the device as 1st priority.

I'll close this thread for now but if you encounter similar issue please open a new one and link to this thread.

    Regards,

    Shlomi

  • Hi
I had same problem. You try execute CC3200 uniflash with mode administrator

  • Hi Agustin,

Thank you for your comment. I tried what you suggested and ran uniflash as administrator, but it didn't help. I'm not sure what is the problem with this PC since it works just fine on another that I have...

    Thanks again!

    Dan

  • I'm seeing the same issue on a WinXP machine with a fresh install of Uniflash 3.2. Has there been any workaround discovered for this?
  • Hi,

This issue should have been fixed in the latest Uniflash release (version 123). Which version are you using? Did you upgrade from older version or installed it from scratch?

    Shlomi

  • I'm using the latest version 123 downloaded from ti.com today. It was a clean install, not an upgrade.
  • Can you check if all dll libraries exist as described in this post? Also, with windows XP, how did the installation go? Did you get any messages indicating issues during the installation?
  • The files are the same as listed in Dan O'Shea's post, with the exception that the FlashAPI.dll file is 62976 bytes in size. The installation went fine apart from the known [XP] error about not being able to verify/certify the driver (I clicked ok and just finished the installation).
  • Hugh,

Are you getting the same "Error loading DLL" message as Dan was? Can you provide the exact output you are seeing?

    Thanks,
    Ricky
  • Hi,

Yes, I'm still getting the error on WinXP but I found a Win7 machine to use instead and that worked ok for me so I'm sorted for the moment.  For your reference, the output from UniFlash on the WinXP machine looked like this:

[09:28:21] INFO: >> Error loading DLL:
[09:28:21] INFO: The operation completed successfully.

[09:28:21] INFO: >> Error loading DLL:

    [09:28:27] Begin GetVersion operation.

  • Hugh,

Sounds like there might be a compatibility issue on Windows XP.

If you have the time, can you try the following?

Install Dependency Walker on your WinXP machine (www.dependencywalker.com), start the application, and open the FlashAPI.dll using the application. Then, either take a screenshot or go to File -> Save As to save the image. Please provide the screenshot or image to me; this will help with the analysis of the bug.

    Thanks,

    Ricky

  • Hi Ricky,

    Saved DWI image attached.

    Regards,
    Hugh

    FlashAPI.dwi.tar.gz

  • Hugh,

It looks like we didn't compile FlashAPI DLL to be compatible with Windows XP. Can you try again with the updated DLL?
    8357.FlashAPI.dll

Sorry for the confusion; hopefully this fixes the problem for you.

    Thanks,

    Ricky

  • Hi Ricky,

That fixed the problem .. thanks.

    Hugh
