CC3220MOD: Protection circuit on the LAUNCH-CC3220MODS board

Hi,

The LAUNCH-CC3220MODS board has the following circuit near the power supply input connector. Please explain to me how this circuit works.

Also, what is the use of R149?

Hi Prachi,

This p-channel MOSFET works here as reverse voltage protection (see www.ti.com/lit/an/slva139/slva139.pdf ). Advantage of using this FET is a low voltage drop in comparison with diode or Schottky diode. Resistor (R149) here works as baypass when you want deactivate this protection and is not populated at LP.

Thanks. This helps. I have just one doubt - The resistor can be used to bypass when you want to deactivate this protection and is not populated at LP. -what does LP refer to here?
