CC3220: sl_RegisterEventHandler does not work after bootup, only delayed

Hi,

in my AccessPoint-app I use sl_RegisterEventHandler() (for SL_EVENT_WLAN, _FATAL_ERROR, _NETAPP, _DEVICE_GENERAL and _SOCKET) to register user events.
When starting the CC3220SF module it takes a long time (20~30 secs) until these callbacks can be called.
But the NWP is already up and accepts incoming connections from other STA.

Examples:
When booting the module, I can directly connect from a PC as STA but these callbacks are not called.
Only after this long time delay and again connecting from PC as STA these callbacks are called.

What is wrong?

Hi Jörg,

Asynchronous events are served in sl_Task context. I think you have something wrong with this task. Please see to proper implementation a SDK examples (e.g. network_terminal).

Hi Jan,

for sl_Task I use the following code (from examples):

    // sl_Task
    pthread_attr_init(&pAttrs_spawn);
    priParam.sched_priority = 9;
    RetVal = pthread_attr_setschedparam(&pAttrs_spawn, &priParam);
    RetVal |= pthread_attr_setstacksize(&pAttrs_spawn, 2048);
    RetVal = pthread_create(&g_SpawnThread, &pAttrs_spawn, sl_Task, 0);

All other threads have lower prio and a usleep(1000) in loop.

Hi Jan,
it seems that when I switch off all network applications (HTTP Server, DHCP Server, mDNS, DNS Server) for access point in UniFlash it works.
But why?

Hi Jan,

my base application (where my application starts from) is out of box example.
Then I registered the user event handlers like in serial wifi example.

Hi Jörg,

Why do you register user events when events (SimpleLinkWlanEventHandler, SimpleLinkFatalErrorEventHandler, SimpleLinkNetAppEventHandler, etc.) are already in OOB example?

Hi Jörg,

Not generally. In your case is something wrong with your code/build setup. I am trying figure out what could be.

Update: how looks code inside events? Did you do some operations which can take long time in handler or you call sl_ API from handler context?

Hi Jan,

no, there are no calls to sl_xxx Funktions, nor long time operations, except some Report lines.

I haven't not much ideas, than compare with SDK example which in your case works properly, right?

Just to be sure. Boot time of device itself is not prolonged, "only" working with WLAN after is NWP started by sl_Start(). Right?
