Hi,

We are developing on BBGW in which is embedded wl18xx with 2 antennas slot. Our goal is to discover Ibeacons in real time, periodically as they send signals. We wrote program in node.js and everything is working fine as long as we are using USB dongle BT. But problem occurs when we tried to use internal wl18xx. It seems that wl18xx is shareing antenna between wifi and BT, and our Ibeacons signals are coming in random intervals between 4-8 seconds or so. We are not shure why BBGW has 2 antennas? Please can you advice us how to solve problem with real time reading BT ?

Hi Mirko,
The BBGW uses a Jorjin module with a WL1835 device inside. It is very similar in architecture to TI's WL1835MOD whose internal arrangement is shown below (from the online datasheet)

There are two antennae as the device is capable of 2x2 MIMO. So it has the option of using both antennae for Wi-Fi. As you can see in the diagram there is a switch on ANT1 between one of the Wi-Fi PHYs and the Bluetooth PHY.

So ANT1 is used for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and ANT2 is used for the second Wi--Fi channel for MIMO.

So the only option you have to increase Bluetooth scanning time is to reduce or eliminate Wi-Fi.

How are you logging into the BBGW? If over serial cable or USB then you just need to run

#ifconfig wlan0 down

to disable the Wi-Fi.
