WL1807MOD: PULSE changing to silver paste on antenna (PULSE W3006) - Require a module re-certification?

Part Number: WL1807MOD

Asking for my customer: "Partt of us using the Wi-Fi module’s FCC cert was using tightly controlled components / layout.  Pulse recently changed the silver paste on the antenna (PULSE W3006).  Does this require a recert?  Did anyone in the WiFi group know that there was a PCN on the mandated antenna?"

  • Hi,

We were not aware of any PCB on the W3006 antenna. As long as the max dBi value did not change (or is lower), there should be no issue in re-using the existing data. The rule is that as long as the antenna is of the same type and lower gain, you can proceed with no FCC recertification. We always do recommend however that you check with your test house who did the original certification for your (or customers) product as well.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Riz
