WL1837MOD: Antenna Companies

Part Number: WL1837MOD
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WL1837

Hi WiLink Team,

Good afternoon - quick question on the antenna manufacturers listed in Table 5 of the Approved Antenna Types and Maximum Gain Values in SWRU437 as well as on our WL1837 wiki. Is use of those manufacturers required for re-use of the FCC/CE certification?

I see a note that the type and gain requirements must be met and want to confirm on the manufacturer side.

Thank you!

Regards,

~John

  • Hi John,

It is not necessary to use the same manufacturer, however the following rules apply when deviating from our certified list:

    1) You must use the same type of antenna (chip, whip, etc)
    2) the gain must be less than or equal to the one certified
    3) The out-of-band performance must be similar.

Point 3 is the one the regulatory test house will look at to ensure there is no significant difference in performance. "Significant" is the grey area that the test house will be the judge of. But in general, if you meet the 3 requirements above, it is independent of manufacturer.

    Thanks,
    Riz
