WL1805MOD: WL180xMOD Certified antenna

Part Number: WL1805MOD


Hi,

Could you please confirm that the antenna used for the WL1805MOD module Certification
is "ANT016008LCD2442MA1" as mentioned in the Schematics?

I am asking this because the Certified antenna types on the Wiki page don't mention the full part number.

Meanwhile, TDK  is also recommending ANT162442DT-2001A2 part number. But we are not sure if that could be used.

Could you please let me know if TI has plans to certify the WL18xxMOD modules
with other antennas from TDK also? or only with ANT016008xxx?

    Hi Kummi,

    The certified antennas are the family of antennas for the ANT016008. We certified with the highest gain antenna, thus allowing you to use all the lower gain ones in the family.

    There are 3 rules to follow when selecting a new antenna:

    1) is it of the same type?
    2) is the gain lower than or equal to the original antenna
    3) is the out of band performance similar? For this it is up to the regulatory house and the customer to determine this as TI cannot make this call.

    Thus ANT016008 meets the above 3 so any of them can be used.

    For the ANT162442DT-2001A2 you need to consider the 3 items above to determine if it can be used.
