WL1835MOD: Re-use of regulatory standards

Part Number: WL1835MOD

Hi,

I am using WL1835MOD along with the chip antenna used in the EVM board.

But I have to keep the chip antenna on a different board than the board on which the WL1835MOD is kept. I am using a u.FL to u.FL cable to connect both of them.

The datasheet recoomends a 1dB track attenuation to re-use regulatory certifications done. If I follow the same layout as in the EVM till the u.FL connector and use a cable to connect to the antenna on the other board. Can I re-use the certification ? Considering that total length / attenuation will be higher than what is in EVM.

Thanks,

Ganesh

  • Hi Saurabh,

Do you have any update for us on this query ?

    Thanks,

    Ganesh

  • Hi Ganesh,

In order to re-use the certification you must use one of the antennas that we specify, which you are, but if you place in on a separate board and then connect with a U.FL connector with a cable, this will mean that you are using a different antenna. In this case you will need to talk with the certification house that you are using on what data can be leveraged from our original certification. Then we can provide a letter to you to take out your own ID (FCC an ISED) then perform the relevant changes (delta testing required).

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Riz
