CC2650 SensorTag Firmware Upgrade ZigBee

thanks for moving the thread and your fast reply!

I got no error message at all, but the App simply wouldn't start downloading the FW-File. I tried with various iOS phones and iPads, but could not get it working on any of them.
I also did see the Z-Stack page, however could not find that any of these stacks support the CC2650 SensorTag. I will try it with the file posted below in this thread and hope that solves it for me.

I just did the Firmware Upgrade with the Hex-File you sent. Smart RF Flash Programmer said that it was successful. However know the red LED is on.

What does that mean?

I just tried to do a Firmware Upgrade to ZigBee again, as I always switch between BLE and ZigBee. However this time the Flash Programmer said it was successfull, but there is no LED blinking (neither red or green).

Do you know what the problem could be? Or is there a new Firmware File available. I can't find them.

Sure but I don't have XDS110 with me and I bet most users don't buy it since sensor tag can be programmed OTA....

what image are you trying to play on to the Dongle and how are you trying to programme it? With the Debugger?
I have not programmed the Dongle yet, as I'm only using it as sniffer for my ZigBee network. That works just fine so far.

1. Make sure you set com port setting with 115200 baudrate and handshake as none.

2. If your COM6 is scanned successfully in ZTool, it should looks like the following screen shot.

Another question in sun may's tutorial: In step 5 below, how do I build an HEX file for CC2650? In the project ZNP, it only has CC2530/CC2531.

5. Build Zigbee SensorTag (CC2650STK) to join as end device. Make sure you use -DDEFAULT_CHANLIST=0x00000800 (channel 11) in f8wconfig.cfg and set "xHOLD_AUTO_START" and "xNV_RESTORE" in ZStackCore. Set "xZCL_EZMODE" in SensorTag application. Compile SensorTag and download it to your CC2650STK.

Thanks, Yikai. I was able to program both device after I got the XDS110.

One problem on the sensorTag: Is it able to start and stop the zigbee beacon request transmission like BLE? The battery will be quickly drained out in this case. Currently I can only take the battery out when not using it.

I downloaded the Z-Stack-Home 1.2.2a from www.ti.com/.../z-stack-archive
However, in the Projects -> zstack -> HomeAutomation folder, there is no SensorTag folder.
So how would I find the source code to build the ZStackCoreEndDevice.hex and SensorTag.hex in the Code Composer Studio?

My Z-stack was installed in the following directory: C:\Texas Instruments\Z-Stack Home 1.2.2a.44539\Projects\zstack\HomeAutomation

ti folder doesn't have the Z-stack. 

There are two parts of installation in Z-Stack Home 1.2.2a, the first one is for CC253X and the other is for CC26XX. You must miss CC26xx part. Try to reinstall Z-Stack Home 1.2.2a again.

I downloaded the software following your link. After installing it, I tried to open the SensorTag.eww, but got errors (see attached images).

I reinstalled the Z-Stack, thinking that the files were altered from the previous compilations I was doing on the newer version of EWARM, but upon reinstallation the same error persists. Any ideas on why this is happening?

I think the problem is caused by you had open the project with newer IAR version. Try to reinstall your Z-Stack Home 1.2.2a to test again.

Can you do a screen shot of your "Custom argument variable"?

I opened the Custom Argument Variables but its blank. The only two options I have is to create a new group or import. I don't know where the custom variables file would be for me to import. Or do I have to manually specify all of the paths myself?

That worked! However, I am facing the same issue. I was able to get the hex file for the ZStackCore in the output folder, but when I make the SensorTag (which does compile without errors), there is no hex file in the output. I am getting only .out and .sim files in the output folder. I tried to flash the SensorTag with ZStackCoreEndDevice.hex and SensorTag.out file, but the LED is constant red, and the buttons won't activate the beacon mode.

Sensortag.hex should be generated under C:\ti\simplelink\zstack_home_1_02_02a_44539\Projects\zstack\HomeAutomation\SensorTag\CC2650\SensorTag\Exe

I was able to generate the .hex file! What I noticed is in the Options for the SensorTag, in the Output Converter Category, I wasn't generating additional output. Now I have that set to Intel extended, without overriding the default output which is "SensorTag.hex". When using the Packet Sniffer, I am capturing a Beacon Request. Instead I want to send "hello world". Which file would I need to modify in the SensorTag folder since there are so many of them?
