Hi,

I am using CC2530 to build a router. I use zstack 3.0 GenericApp to build firmware for chip. but when I download Hex file into cc2530, I can not get anything transmit from my CC2530.

PS: I have already set up a Coordinator successfully. What should I do?

What CC2530 EVB do you use? Is it CC2530DK?

Hi YiKai,

I am using CC2530+RTX2401 module (from ShenZhen ChangYuan Information Technologies) and CC debugger to develop a router. And I think although I am not using CC2530 EVB, the OSAL system and bind task should be same. So I should develop the module using sample in zstack3.0. Am I right?

Hi,

Did you initiate BDB commissioning on your device? Depending on the BDB commissioning options, this will allow your device to form a network if it is a network-forming device, or join a network if it is a joining device. In the GenericApp example, BDB commissioning for all commissioning modes can be started by pressing SW2 if using a SmartRF05 + CC2530EM. You can look at the relevant code on line 441 of zcl_genericapp.c.

Hi,

Thanks Jason. Now my CC2530 could transmit some message to gateway. but I also got a strange as shown in picture.

What does that mean and what should I do to figure it out.

PS: I start BDB commissioning task before run_system.

Hi,

You must start BDB commissioning after the system has been completely initialized and is running, e.g. somewhere in the application ideally, like it is done in the Z-Stack sample applications.

Do you have a way of providing external input to the system like a switch? I would recommend putting the BDB commissioning call there.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I just want to evaluate this chip. If it is ok, I am gonna to provide a external input later. So I add bdb_StartCommissioning(BDB_COMMISSIONING_MODE_NWK_FORMATION | BDB_COMMISSIONING_MODE_NWK_STEERING | BDB_COMMISSIONING_MODE_FINDING_BINDING | BDB_COMMISSIONING_MODE_INITIATOR_TL); in the osal_start_system() function.
is it correct? Or I have to simulate a button press in osal_run_system() function.

I attached a modified version of zcl_genericapp.c/h with a slight modification, if you search for "GENERICAPP_BDB_COMMISSIONING" you can see the changes.

Basically I made it so after the application is initialized, a 2-second timer is started inside the application and after the timeout an event is called that starts BDB commissioning. This is an example of how you would want to start BDB commissioning without the use of an external input to the system.

Hi,

I tried your method in my program. I see everything is like what you have said. After timeout, an starts BDB commissioning event is called. But my chip can not even transmit a beacon.

Try disabling the secondary BDB channel set if you have not already. i.e, change this define in bdb_interface.h:

#define BDB_DEFAULT_SECONDARY_CHANNEL_SET 0

after I disable the secondary BDB channel set, I still can not see any signal in sniffer

Try to call bdb_StartCommissioning() at the latest line of zclGenericApp_Init().

Yep, I call that at the last line in zclGenericApp_Init function with a 2s timer. just like Jason did.

I figure out this problem. I just change the timer from 2s to 0s. Than it works. But Now I have a new problem. After the router join the network, it will send nodeDescriReq to my Coordinator. But it looks like no response from my coordinator. And then router just leave the net. How could I solve that.

GenericApp doesn't run Zigbee HA profile and I suppose your GW runs HA profile so GenericApp has problem to join properly. Try to use SampleLight to test with the GW.

But I see GenericApp belong to HomeAutomation file. well, I will try Sample light first.

After checking GenericApp in Z-Stack 3.0, I see TI changes it to use HA profile. However, it uses ZCL_HA_DEVICEID_ON_OFF_LIGHT as device ID but doesn't implement ON/OFF cluster in its in/out clusters. I think this might cause the problem so I still suggest you to test SampleLight first.
