[FAQ] TAS2563: How do use external PVDD to power the amplifier

Part Number: TAS2563

While TAS2563 features internal boost that can provide up to 12.5 output voltage (16 dBV gain), it also give user the option of using an external PVDD to further increase the output to 16V (18 dBV. gain)

To utilize external PVDD:

  1. Remove the boost inductor and open the connection between the SW and VBAT as shown below. This ensures internal boost is not connected and the Class-D stage will be powered by PVDD
  2. Run the I2C command in PPC3 to disable boost

w 98 00 00

w 98 7f 00

w 98 00 00

w 98 33 c4 #Set boost to "always off" and disable it

        3. Follow the Power on/off sequence

Power On: VBAT -> VDD/IOVDD -> PVDD

Power Off: PVDD -> VDD/IOVDD -> VBAT

NOTE: Do NOT power PVDD while VBAT is off
