ADS114S08EVM: ADC eval software crashes

Part Number: ADS114S08EVM

Tool/software:

"Delta-Sigma ADC EvaluaTIon Software" will suddenly stop working while running "Analysis Engine for Delta-Sigma ADC EvaluaTIon Software".

This occurs after collecting data several times in succession, and then the main "Delta-Sigma ADC EvaluaTIon Software" window will close while the "Analysis Engine" window is left open but non-functional. The message in the bottom left corner will say "Starting data collection..." and right when the message changes to "Connected to the main app. Ready..." the main app also closes.

Further attempts to collect data result in saying ""Starting data collection..." and then going back to "Connected to the main app. Ready..." with no new data (just 0V) actually being recorded in the window.

I have listed the register settings below and the EVM parameters are a clock freq of 4.096MHz, Vref of 5V, and 16 samples. All samples are being recorded with A0 being connected to 2.5V (from the test point TP21).

  • Hi Harris Miller,

I am not immediately sure what could cause this issue. Is it repeatable? In other words, are there certain steps you can take to get this issue to occur at will? Or is it just random?

This occurs after collecting data several times in succession

Is "several times" a constant amount? Or can it happen after one data capture, 10 data captures, etc.?

Is the USB cable plugged into a hub, or directly into your PC / laptop?
