Specification of cuvettes

May I know the specification of the cuvettes ships with DLP NIRscan such as the path length, it’s material and percent of transmission?

Hello Yaa,

They are disposable UV-VIS PMMA cuvettes with 10mm path length. Plastibrand part number #759080D. This is not specifically a IR cuvette. Here is the absorption spectrum in the NIRscan range from 1350nm - 2450nm.

Hello Chris. Thanks for sharing. Actually I consider to use quartz cuvettes, light path=10 mm, 200 nm T%=82.8%. Is it recommended to use it?

Keep in mind that there are different types of quartz cuvettes and some are specifically for IR. This compares some available quartz cuvettes www.internationalcrystal.net/icl101.htm. The IR silica would be ideal for the NIRscan range. The standard silica might also work, but the transmission does decrease above 2000nm.

I think, since quartz is a very good material for NIR spectroscopy, it is very unlikely that the cuvette is causing any absorptions that could affect the results.

Hello Chris. For DLP NIR scan, the sample holder is not fixed very well with the cuvettes and the cuvettes is also not covered. Does these conditions will affect the result of measurement?

Hello Yaa,

We have not conducted a detailed analysis of the ambient light or sample position. These issues could have some affect on the measurements, but I have not noticed significant repeatability issues. Please keep in mind that this evaluation module is a tool to enable the design of a DLP based spectrometer.

I want to buy some cuvettes. But IR quartz cuvettes are not fit to my samples. Can you recommended me some companies or web sites to buy UV-VIS PMMA cuvettes? Thank you too much.

I am not certain what you mean by "are not fit to my samples".

We are not a lab as such so have had very limited experience in obtaining cuvettes. There are many companies out there like BrandTech Scientific, Sigma-Aldrich, International Crystal Labs, Spectrecology, Fisher Scientific, etc. . . . A simple Google search will show these and many, many more.
